When You Have No Peace

Peace cannot be bought with money or created through success & stature.
It is unattainable by man alone because it is a gift given to us by the Holy Spirit.
We have to look beyond ourselves.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

Today I have been a daughter of the King for twelve years, yet peace can still elude me at times. As I sit and reflect back on my life I realize that the most peaceful time in my life was also during the most difficult. According to the world, my soul should not have been a peace while Claire battled Leukemia, but in turmoil, angst, and full of anger. My daughter was fighting for her life, we were living in a hospital, unable to work, overwhelmed with facts, uncomfortable with treatment protocols, and our future was unknown. Nothing in that situation seems peaceful, but our God took the chaos of that dark situation and used it to focus my attention on Him. I had no solutions, only an understanding of my weakness. Being at the center of something so much larger than myself brought me to a place of submission that I had never known before.  The pain, the fear, the anxiety, and the sadness were all still very real, but it was not my motivator, He was. My husband and I chose to focus on His perfect love, the love we had for our daughter, and the time we had together. It is a beautiful place where answers aren’t needed and moments are treasured.

Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter, The one that remains faithful. "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trust in You. "Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock Isaiah 26:2-4

When I find myself discontent, unsatisfied, and irritated at life, I know why. I have failed to place God at the center of my life and let him lead. I have started to move without him, take control, and step away. None of this is intentional, but equally as devastating to my soul. Life has a way of hitting the FF button, and moving so quickly that I forget to stop and turn to Him. Or even worse I believe the devil's lies that I don't have time, or that I don't need to.

We are all facing different struggles, seasons, and blessings. Whatever lies ahead of you, approach it in hope. Meditate on God's word, and let it move in your heart instead of the emotion created by the situation you are in. You will discover blessings of peace and strength just as scripture promises.

We have a Shepherd. He is sovereign, and we are not orphans.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
